Blessed Parent by Kirsten Borror 2012 Acrylic 5x5 |
The Ram, Mikogeophagus ramirezi, is an equal opportunity fish species. Both Female and Male participate in guarding and fanning water over their eggs. Once the babies can swim, one or the other parent guides them to food. Our boys were blessed to have both parents actively engaged in loving and guiding them; and we still are, but the boys are no longer under the roof. The confidence we can give as they step into manhood is still crucial, but they are swimming most often in their own vegetation patches now. It's a wonderful passage from boy to man. I'm so glad we have been here to witness it, be blessed by it, and glow over it. No suffering can take this away.
