On the Horizon by Kirsten Borror 2012 Watercolor 4x6 |
What does it take to go from displaced and homeless to walking into your inheritance? Before the Israelites entered the Promised Land, Moses sent 12 spies to assess the situation. All but two came back terrified by what they saw; large fortified cities, giant people, people who had possession, infrastructure. They said, "They are stronger than we are!" This is a case of seeing the problem instead of The Promise.
Joshua and Caleb on the other hand were hopeful. Why did they feel the victory rising in their spirits? Joshua said, "If the Lord is pleased with us, then He will bring us into the land, and give it to us." So, to see circumstances truthfully, we need to take stock and ask ourselves, "Am I doing what pleases the Lord?" Use the ten commandments as a guide. If you are outside of any of them, figure out why you can't walk in His joy path. The second part is we have to take the step to believe that God's promises are true.
God said in Joshua chapter 1, verses 8-10:
Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."
