It's funny, we think it's so easy to know what love is. But do we really? Look at Tom Cruise, coming up on his third divorce, and it seems like last year he was jumping around on Oprah's coaches shouting about how he 'loved'...Katie is it? Do you get it, yet? Will Tom get it? Will anyone get it? Are we doomed to never get it? Jesus was love made flesh, and crowds were drawn to Him, yet others were repulsed and murderous against Him. Is that odd to you? God's word is a lamp for our feet, a light on our path. The lamp and light He established for us is Do not commit adultery, do not have sex before marriage. Does anyone pay attention to these lighthouses? I just came out of a movie that mocks such ideas as prudish, old-fashioned, and repressed. So, God set the lamps up to make us miserable or to give us abundant joy? Over the weekend I shared with some people that I was opposed to the idea of 'living together' and someone in the room, someone about to be divorced who is having an affair, scoffed at me.
Yes, it seems throwing these rules out the window has brought our Western culture right up the road to a cliff. A treacherous crumbling cliff of immoral, licentious, selfish actions that have broken families, relationships and crippled us into half-formed souls. Why do we think we are "free" in this?
