Thriving in a Fallen World

Shattered Dream by Paul Crimi

This painting is the largest in the show at North River Gallery. Here Crimi uses unbending lines in a disjointed  pattern to push us into anxiety. Flipping, breaking shapes indicate collapsing structures falling all around the figures. Crimi comments again on the human experience of living in a world cursed with sin. For a while we think we have everything we need. When our lives fall apart we are left without the “everything”, but God is there. The shattering becomes our place to find our dreams and hopes in Him. We can trust Him and He will bring us to higher ground.
