Blooming at any age

Paper Mosaics by Mary Delaney

I revel in hearing about people who do wonderful things at any age, because it encourages me to keep imagining. Mary Delaney (1700-1788), a talented artist and independent thinker began her 1,700 botanicalcollages at the age of 71, stopping at 88 only because of failing eyesight.  She had a passion for plants and had friends who encouraged her. She had displayed her conspicuous talent in crafts all her life.  One day I'll get to the British Museum and see these in person. I'm sorry I missed the exhibit at Yale in 2009.
