Peter FitzSimons is coming to Camden! He will be the guest of the Library’s Visiting Writers
Program and will talk about his new book, Batavia, which he describes as “far and away the
greatest story in Australian history, if not the world’s.” Batavia combines in just one tale the birth of the world’s first corporation, the brutality of colonization, the battle of good vs evil, the derring-do of sea-faring adventure, ship-wreck, mutiny, lust, blood-lust, petty fascist dictatorship, criminality, a reign of terror, murders most foul, sexual slavery, natural nobility, survival, retribution, rescue, first contact with native peoples, and so much more.

Former Wallaby Peter FitzSimons is a well-respected columnist for the Sydney Morning Herald and Sun-Herald and television presenter of Fox Sports. He has written eighteen best-selling books, including

Kokoda, and biographies of John Eales, Sir Charles Kingsford Smith, Nancy Wake, Les Darcy,
and many more. He has been Australia’s best-selling non-fiction author in the last decade.
Come and meet Peter FitzSimons and listen to him talk about his book and have the opportunity to have a copy signed by the author. Above all, enjoy a memorable evening.
